Chuck's Song
by David Kraai

I might be a strange you
You might be strange too
She might be stranger than you
I might be a stranger too

I might be bigger than you
You might be bigger too
She might be smaller than you
I might be someone too

He might be different than you
He might be the same too
He might be someone you knew
He might be a stranger too

He might be taller than you
He might be lost too
He might be lost with you
He might be someone too

He did make it today
He did make it someway
He did make it today
He did make it someway

The Ballad of Dean and Brando
by David Kraai

Dean and Brando went out for a talk
Dean never came back
He met a girl and moved to Italy
And Brando was left just to practice his walk

Dean and Brando they grew up together
Dean was full of fear and love
He wanted one chance just to cash it all in
And Brando always knew he’d end up alone

Because things they change like the stars in our movies
People love you and then they die
Things they change like the stars in our movies
People are dead even when they’re alive

Dean and Brando now they don’t even talk
Dean’s too busy just faking his hand
He didn’t think their brotherhood was any good
And Brando held on until he couldn’t even stand

Dean and Brando were the best of their school
Dean was troubled but that Brando he was wild
He gave up only once in his life
And that's when Brando had to face that Dean was gone

Because things they change like the stars in our movies
People love you and then they die
Things they change like the stars in our movies
People are dead even when they’re alive

Dean and Brando went out for a talk
Dean done never came back
He met a girl and moved to Italy
And Brando was left just to practice his walk

Theme From Texas, America
by David Kraai

Texas is a place where you can breathe
Texas is a place where people don't see
But, that's not here
We're so far from Texas

Texas is a place where America is still alive
Texas is a place that could leave us at any time
But, that's not here
We're so far from Texas

Texas is a place where cowboys ride
Texas is the place where you found me again
But, that's not here
We're so far from Texas

Texas is a place you used to hurt me
Texas is a place where heroes still die
But, that's not here
We're so far from Texas

Texas is in America
Texas, America
With its own set of rules
It's its own Texas, America

Can You Hear My Guitar?
by David Kraai

Can you hear my guitar?
Can you hear what I say?
Can you hear my guitar
And the notes that it plays?

Can you hear my guitar
As it plays in the night?
Can you hear my guitar
Rolling like a freight?

Through your soul
Through your heart
How does it feel when it all falls apart?

This is the beginning
Yes, this is the start
If you will listen now
This guitar has got a heart

Can you hear my guitar?
Do you know what it do?
Can you hear my guitar
And all it's been through?

Can you hear my guitar
When the moment is right?
Can you hear my guitar
Lay down the weight?

That's in your soul
That's down in your heart
How does it feel when you lose it all?

This is the beginning
Yes, this is the start
If you will listen now
This guitar has got a heart

Cowboys
by David Kraai

Cowboys are always the first to leave
Cowboys will take your heart and leave
They don’t care how much they take
They don’t care if it breaks
Because cowboys will take your heart and leave

And they’ll ride, ride away
Yes, they’ll ride, ride away

Cowboys will take your heart and leave
Cowboys won’t treat you nice like me
They will hurt and desert you
They’ll forget about and worse you
Because cowboys will take your heart and leave

I said they’ll take your heart
They’ll break your heart
And leave it lying out there on the prairie

I said they’ll take your heart
They’ll break your heart
And leave it lying out there for me

And they’ll ride, ride away
Yes, they’ll ride, ride away

Cowboys don’t give a damn about me
Cowboys took my baby from me
I don’t need her, but I’ll see her
As she waves, "Goodbye," with those
Cowboys as they ride, ride away

Things of America
by David Kraai

You can't be mad at a cowboy
Or a tumbleweed that is rolling home
Just like you can't be mad at that old oak tree
'cause these are things of America

You can't be mad at a blue eyed bird
Or a homestead or a ranch
Just like you can't be mad at Nashville for its music
'cause these are things of America

These are things of America
Not these wars that separate and divide us
These are things of America
Not these wars that keep you from me

You can't be mad that New Orleans means jazz
Or that the Delta's got the blues
Just like you can't be mad that Detroit's got a Motown sound
'cause these are things of America

These are things of America
Not these wars that separate and divide us
These are things of America
Not these wars that keep you from me

These are things of America
Salt on your watermelon or a cup of sweet tea
These are things of America
Not these wars that keep you from me

I'll Take You Home
by David Kraai

I'll take you home
I'll go first
Then you'll follow
All the way
Until you're home

I'll take you home
We'll go down
Across the river
Stone by stone
Finding our way

I'll take you home
Across the mountains
Through the valley
We'll walk through fields
To get you there

I'll take you home
You won't need food
Won't need water
They'll all be there
Our friends and daughters

I'll take you home
Through waves of flowers
Winds will blow
In your hair
Along the road

When you get home
To our brother
He'll tuck you in
Then you can rest
Now that you're home

I'll take you home
I'll lead you there
We'll meet again
All the way
When I come home

So, I'll take you home
I'll go first
Then you'll follow
All the way
Until you're home

10-21 Blues
by David Kraai

It has been a year or more since I've seen you
Some things have changed for the better but some things are worse
Some things have come and some things had to go
The thunder won’t ever crash down here again

But you and me we’re gonna live forever
I said that you and me we’re gonna live forever

I ain’t ever gonna be like him
I ain’t ever gonna let my feet touch the ground
I ain’t ever gonna let my high come down

But you and me we’re gonna live forever
I said that you and me we’re gonna live forever

I will do my best to remember you
I will take you in my pocket and remember your charms
I’m gonna hold onto you 'til you come back to me
Because I need you, I said I need you here

But you and me we’re gonna live forever
I said that you and me we’re gonna live forever
Tonight
Yes, I said tonight

Cracks In A Straw House
by David Kraai

She was a dream in the land of dreams, a dream with eyes of blue
And he was a stranger with hard, striped boots and a heart made just for her

They met at night under the light of a cold fluorescent bulb
But when they sang and held on tight their harmonies did flow

Now, this was hardly the place for girls to grow up alone
And he was, as everyone knew, so far from home
But, maybe, that was the fact that made them a crazy love
The hope, the thought, a dream to be each other’s only one

But time goes by and time goes back and things they always break
He was off when she was on and round and round it goes

Until finally he saw her standing there in broken worn-down jeans
She wasn’t waiting for him and he’d just stopped to pick up his things
Now he don’t know if she’s even still around
Maybe she’s been across this world; seen people, places and towns

But in the end he awoke to find she was just a dream
A dream in the land of dreams, a dream with eyes of blue

Brouck Ferris
by David Kraai

His Daddy died on Valentine’s Day
Left him feeling lost, alone
I tried to help him to mend
But he didn’t need a friend

So, now it’s, "Goodbye, my Daddy lonely
Don’t know if I’ll see you again
Goodbye, my Daddy lonely
Don’t know if I’ll see you again."

I’ll think of memories, the pictures of time
When you were yours and I was just mine
Now I fix your beard and I straighten your tie
That’s what we come to when we die

So, now it’s, "Goodbye, my Daddy lonely
Don’t know if I’ll see you again
Goodbye, my Daddy lonely
Don’t know if I’ll see you again."
