My Axle Is Broken
by David Kraai

After a night of fighting with my woman
I woke up to have my car break down
In a strip-mall parking lot
Listening to everybody's brother in town

I just paid two hundred bucks to get towed four blocks
When all I'm trying to do is sing songs
Maybe somehow someone right now
Can help me to keep on keepin' on

My axle is broken
My feet are on the ground
And what I could use now is a beer
But, one day, if I get my wings then I'll fly
And righteously get out of here

It seems you can't ever find a way
To open up and just shout
No matter what a working man do
He never seems to work his way out

I been traveling all over God's creation
Up to the mountain and back
Trying to be some kind of honky tonk hero
And get that feeling back

My axle is broken
My feet are on the ground
And what I could use now is a beer
But, one day, if I get my wings then I'll fly
And righteously get out of here

Yes, my axle is broken
My feet are on the ground
And what I need now is a beer
But, one day, if I get my wings then I'll fly
And get us both right out of here
