Our Town
by David Kraai

Growing up in a one room schoolhouse
You knew about what everyone did
Digging for arrowheads out on the flats
And riding bikes the minute that bell clanked
Out of town to our old, broke down bridge
You'd get a cowboy hat for Christmas
And a wooden train whistle from town
Folks were hoping that time wouldn't let them down here in...

Our town
A place
Our town
In the past
Our town
Can we go back to our town?

Friday nights you'd go to the dance
Where girls and boys got their chance to meet
Under the bleachers or in the back seats
You could hide anywhere and then
Cruise that beautiful impending Main Street
And feel the breeze touching your face
Love in the air
Down to the riverbank, you could "go all the way" there here in...

Our town
A place
Our town
In the past
Our town
Can we go back to our town?

But outsiders came in
And with them they brought change
Until all around was just another magic city of the plain

Our town
Was a place
Our town
In the past
Our town
Can go back to our town?
We can't go back to our town
